Official trademark searches
Free government databases. Searching is not legal advice and doesn’t guarantee a name is safe to use.
Start with words about what you sell, who it’s for or the feeling you want. Combine them with simple prefixes and suffixes, as the generator does, then shortlist names that are easy to say and spell.
Can two businesses have the same name?
Sometimes. Business name registration (with a state, province or Companies House) is separate from trademarks. Two businesses in different places or industries may share a name, but using a name that is confusingly similar to someone’s trademark can lead to legal problems. Search the official databases, and get legal advice if you’re unsure. Read can two businesses have the same name?
Is the name generator free?
Yes. It runs in your browser with no sign-up, and your saved names stay on your device.
Does a free domain check mean the name is available?
No. A domain being free only means nobody has registered that web address. The name could still be a trademark or a registered business name.
